The three chiefs and the spirits of Syrach — Plaingière ed., 18th c.
The Grimorium Verum («Les véritables Clavicules de Salomon»): the French grimoire that arranges infernal magic under three chiefs —Lucifer, Beelzebuth and Astaroth— and their serving spirits, with Duke Syrach and his own (Clauneck, Frimost, Surgat…), their seals and characters, the Clavicles and the operations. Our own transcription of the French of the edition attributed to «Plaingière» (18th c.) —public domain (Google Books digitization)— with each page's facsimile alongside our transcription and English translation. The book bears the false imprint «À Memphis, chez Alibeck l'Égyptien, 1587»: as A. E. Waite noted, «the date specified in the title is undeniably fraudulent; the work belongs to the middle of the eighteenth century, and Memphis is Rome». It is this specific printed recension, not every variant of the Verum nor any copyrighted modern annotated edition. In Grimorium you can explore its 18 spirits on the Duke Syrach page and in each one's entry. Historical, educational material, not a how-to for summoning.
