The nigromantic passages of the commentary on the Sphere
The oldest link in the thread. Cecco d'Ascoli —a physician and astrologer burned by the Inquisition in 1327— slipped into his commentary on Sacrobosco's Sphere some of the oldest nigromantic passages we have: the ur-source of the four kings of the directions (Oriens, Amaymon, Paymon, Egim) tied to the climes and planets, and the first appearance of Floron and his steel mirror. Transcribed from the 1499 incunable (public domain, not the copyrighted modern edition) and translated into ES/EN.
