6th and 7th Books of Moses

The Seals of Moses — Mosaic magic, Scheible ed., 19th c.

The 6th and 7th Books of Moses (Das sechste und siebente Buch Mosis): the famous grimoire of the Seals of Moses —tables of Hebrew and magical characters, with their conjurations of the serving spirits— attributed by tradition to Moses, yet actually spread through 19th-century Germany and from there into folk magic (African-American hoodoo). Our own transcription of the German (Fraktur type) of the Scheible edition (Stuttgart, 19th c.) —public domain, «faithful to word and image after an old manuscript»— with each page's facsimile and the original seal plates alongside our transcription and translation. It is NOT a medieval text nor part of the Solomonic tradition: it is this specific printed recension. Historical, educational material.
