In his «Homily 34» he gave the definition of the choirs the series uses: the Virtues are «those spirits through whom signs and miracles are most often worked» — the «choir of miracles». His ordering of the nine choirs differs slightly from Pseudo-Dionysius's, and both coexisted in the medieval tradition.
