Angels of the four Altitudes (Chora) of the world. By the solar sign they appear differently: in the 1st (East) benign, white in aspect; in the 2nd (South), a young child in red-rose satin with a crown of red gillyflowers, its face turned to heaven; in the 3rd (West), maidens in green and silver with a crown of bay leaves and white and green flowers, leaving a sweet perfume; in the 4th (North), boys clothed in black mixed with dark green, compassed round with a bright shining of every colour.
These angels rule the «altitudes» of the world and answer truly what they are asked. The Almadel operation is ANGELIC and benign —not goetic, no constraint—: they are invoked with courtesy in their day and season.
The Ars Almadel is Book IV of the Lesser Key of Solomon (Lemegeton). It is ANGELIC, theurgic magic —not goetic nor modern—: its honesty is its own layer. The Altitude colours are INFERRED from the angels' appearance (the colour rubric is not legibly preserved in Sloane 3825): they are [reconstruction], not a direct rubric.
No. The Almadel is NOT one of the 72 spirits of the Ars Goetia: The Ars Almadel is Book IV of the Lesser Key of Solomon (Lemegeton). It is ANGELIC, theurgic magic —not goetic nor modern—: its honesty is its own layer. We show it as angel of the altitudes, with its own sources.
